Altius Building Company announced today that they have earned an Associated Builders and Contractors – Wisconsin Chapter (ABC-WI) Projects of Distinction GOLD award for the Washington County Humane Society’s (WCHS) Addition and Renovation project. There were a total number of 69 submittals this year, with 25 GOLD winners.
“Altius is honored to receive this award. The project spanned several phases and at the end of the journey we’ve not only gained a trusted partner, but we’ve helped WCHS accommodate for their expanding needs, and animal intakes (2,500 annually – resulting in 100% placement). This is one thing we strive for our clients and are truly humbled by the great team we had in place to earn the award and success together.”
– Scott Drees, President & CEO – Altius Building Company
The Washington County Humane Society’s 21,500 SF, four-phase, addition and renovation project expanded its footprint to accommodate their growing needs (internal and outreach) and increased animal rescues. The success of this project was a combination of the incredible partnership with the WCHS staff (Kay Amland and Marnie Brown) and board as well as the owner’s representative (Neal David, AIA) and the architect (The Kubala Washatko Architects). The Humane Society’s tagline of “All They Need is You” represents this project to its entirety…all they needed was a tireless team to advocate for better facility operations to achieve 100% success. Four intricate phases of renovation and the addition of space was completed within 15 months, during a pandemic riddled with logistical issues and no injuries were sustained throughout the duration.
“Projects of Distinction demonstrate the excellence in construction services by ABC of Wisconsin members,” said John Mielke, president of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin. “These unique projects are evaluated by a panel of architects, engineers and educators in the construction industry and allow Wisconsin’s merit contractors to demonstrate their professionalism, craftsmanship and safety.”
