On Monday, June 7th, 2021, Mayor Barrett announced the 2021 Mayor’s Design awards. Among the nearly 30 awards announced, The Yards was bestowed the “Design that Grabs You” award.
The Yards is a five-story, 102,367 SF, 86-unit mixed-use multifamily development located in the Reed Street Yards portion of historic Walker’s Point in Milwaukee. Reed Street Yards was originally created as a mixed-use, urban in-fill, office, educational, research and technology zone that General Capital Group and Peter Moede (the developer) developed to reinvest in the historic, reviving and expanding growth market surrounding the Global Water Technology center.
The Yards project was the combination of a great development partner, Linden Street Partners; a terrific builder and construction manager, Altius Building Company; a top-tier creative architect, Rinka+; and a fabulous location in a dynamic growing urban market.
